In a historic moment for Ghana and the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, has been chosen as the next Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. Her appointment was confirmed at the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), marking a significant leadership change within the 56 nation organization.
Botchwey’s election is viewed as a recognition of her extensive diplomatic experience and leadership in global affairs.
