The Ministry of Education has announced the results for the 2024/2025 school placements, determining which Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions incoming students will attend. This annual process impacts thousands of students and families across the country, as the placements allow students to take their next academic steps with clarity.

Based on data from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 563,339 students sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year. Out of this number, 553,155 candidates were deemed qualified for school placement, with 447,698 students, or approximately 80.93% of the qualified group, receiving automatic placement into one of the schools of their choice.

However, not all students were placed into one of their preferred schools. About 104,918 students, despite qualifying, did not receive placements into any of their selected choices. To support these students, the Ministry has provided a Self-Placement platform, which enables them to choose from schools that still have available spots.

Self-Placement Platform Support

The Ministry has urged students who did not receive placement to utilize this Self-Placement option, which offers a streamlined process for selecting schools. On the platform, students can browse available schools and choose from those that match their interests and capacity, ensuring they are not left behind as the new academic year begins.

Students seeking to check their placement status can follow a simple process provided by the Ministry. They should visit the official Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) website at [cssps.gov.gh](https://www.cssps.gov.gh) or [cssps.org](https://www.cssps.org). Once on the site, students should enter their ten-digit index number followed by the year of completion (e.g., 123456789024 for 2024) and submit the information to view their school placements.

Additional Support for Students and Families

To further assist students and parents, the Ministry has established several support centers. These include the National Solution Centre located at GNAT Hall in Adabraka, Accra, along with 16 regional solution centers that can provide in-person help for any placement-related issues. A helpline at 0308258001 is also available for direct assistance.

The placement results, facilitated by the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), are an integral part of the education system. By promoting fair access to quality education, the process aligns with the Ministry’s goals to ensure a smooth transition from junior high school to senior secondary and vocational training institutions.

The release of the placement results represents a critical juncture for Ghana’s education system, as thousands of students and families plan for the next phase of their academic journeys. The Ministry of Education, through both automated and self-placement options, is providing a comprehensive approach to ensure that students across the country have the resources and support needed for their future success.
