News broke out on Tuesday morning that the country had lost one of her 2024 presidential aspirants. Akua Donkor, the founder and flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party passed away on Monday evening at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. According to her official records she was 72 years. However, her running mate and other close relatives say she was 83 years. Akua Donkor until her untimely death was number 3 on the ballot paper for the December polls.
Well, many have raised issues as to what will happen with her party now that she has passed away. The country is forty days away from a crucial election. Okatakyire Afrifa earlier on Tuesday interviewed Philip Agyemang Appiah Kubi, popular called Roman Fada, the running mate to Akua Donkor on what he intends to do now that his boss has passed away. According to Roman Fada, nothing prevents him from leading the party and so he will take the mantle and lead the party to victory in December.
" The last time we met was on Friday to discuss the printing of t- shirts. On Saturday I received information that she wasn' t feeling well. She returned home on Monday but I later received information that same day that an ambulance had come to pick her for Ridge Hospital. I visited her and she was fine. Around 10pm I received news again to come to the hospital. I went there and was told she had passed on. I can' t tell what killed her but it is with her family and the doctors. She was 83 years and she kept this from many people. I joined her campaign because of her desire to learn despite. She is not there but I am ready to take the mantle. I will lead party into the elections, " Philip Agyemang Appiah Kubi said.
