President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, at an event in Accra, hailed the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his steadfast commitment to Ghana's development and progress. The President ensured that his honesty, integrity, and tireless work over time have been salient ingredients for the nation's growth.
Akufo-Addo called Bawumia "a truthful and hard-working" leader whose vision for the country went hand in hand with the aspirations of its people. He pointed to contributions the Vice President had made in very important areas like the management of the economy, digitization, and social welfare. "Dr. Bawumia has proven time and again that he indeed has the interest of Ghanaians at heart," he said.
He underlined some key initiatives taken by Bawumia in driving the government's digital transformation agenda that has transformed public services and improved efficiency. He cited examples such as the Ghana Card, mobile money interoperability, and other key successes that have driven financial inclusion and reduced bureaucracy in government.
The President sought to speak of Bawumia's leadership when it mattered, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. He saluted the Vice President, indicating that he was able to take proactive measures toward the mitigation of the economic impact of the crisis and had seen to it that the needed help reached the needy. "How he always ensures accountability and transparency while acting on crises is something really indicative of a great character," Akufo-Addo said.
The President also called on Ghanaians to appreciate and support Bawumia's dream into the future, to continue investing in infrastructure, education, and health care. He urged party members and the general public to gild behind the Vice President in his preparation for political battles into the future.
Concluding, Akufo-Addo reiterated the confidence in Bawumia's abilities to lead Ghana into a brighter and more equitable future: "With leaders like Dr. Bawumia, I am confident that our nation will continue to make strides toward achieving our collective goals," he concluded, setting a hopeful tone for the upcoming political landscape.
