According to him, the governing New Patriotic Party is more concerned about how to win the December elections and not a tit-for-tat with their opponents, the National Democratic Congress. These were the comments of the running mate as the temperature gets hotter ahead of the polls, with both camps stepping up their campaigns.

Addressing a rally in Accra, Bawumia observed that the insults and criticisms coming from the NDC are testimony of defeat already written on the wall. "We are not here to play games or get sidetracked by insults. Our mission is clear: we aim for victory in December, and that requires unity and focus among our supporters," he said. He called on NPP members not to take their eyes off the ball or be distracted from the campaign by provocations from the NDC.

Bawumia underlined some of the developments the NPP government had gone through during the past couple of years: improvements in the economy, education, and healthcare. He insisted that all those, coupled with a blend of its vision going forward, make the NPP a superior choice for the people of Ghana. "We have laid a solid foundation for progress, and we must continue to build on it. Our track record speaks for itself," he added.

It is against this backdrop of criticisms from the NDC that Bawumia called for a cessation of insults from his opponents, while urging them to engage in constructive dialogue: "Political discourse must be about ideas and solutions, not personal attacks. We are ready to discuss the issues that matter to the people of Ghana.".

The NPP is preparing for what their strategists believe to be a hard-fought election and sounded confident of securing a second term. With the two parties getting into high gear in preparation for the final weeks of campaigns, the spotlight undoubtedly will be on the economic challenges confronting the nation and how each party would tackle them.

This indicates high tension and even higher stakes, reflective of a determined effort by Bawumia to keep the NPP united and focused towards election day.
