KiDi, born Dennis Nana Dwamena on August 18, 1993, in Accra, Ghana, is a celebrated singer-songwriter and one of the most prominent figures in Ghanaian music. He specializes in Afrobeat, Afropop, and highlife, blending these styles seamlessly to craft infectious rhythms that resonate widely. KiDi’s music career gained momentum after he won the MTN Hitmaker competition in 2015, a victory that earned him a contract with Lynx Entertainment, one of Ghana’s leading record labels.


KiDi’s breakout hit “Odo,” released in 2017, catapulted him to fame across Africa and beyond. The remix featuring Nigerian artists Davido and Mayorkun amplified its success, establishing him as an influential figure in the Afrobeats scene. His debut album, Sugar, released in 2019, further demonstrated his musical prowess and included hit tracks like “Thunder” and “Cinderella.” The album's success was complemented by a film of the same name, creatively combining his music with cinematic storytelling.


KiDi’s artistry extends beyond performing. He is also a skilled producer and songwriter, having collaborated with notable acts like Kwesi Arthur, MzVee, and Adina. His songwriting credits include hits for other prominent Ghanaian musicians, showcasing his versatility and influence in the industry. Not only has he been celebrated locally, but KiDi has also received international recognition, performing on stages across Africa and in the United Kingdom.


Throughout his career, KiDi has amassed several awards. At the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), he won accolades like Highlife Song of the Year in 2018 for “Odo” and Album of the Year in 2020 for Sugar. In 2022, he earned the title of Artiste of the Year at both the VGMA and the 3Music Awards, reflecting his enduring impact on Ghana’s music scene.


Beyond music, KiDi’s life includes being a father to his son, Zayne, a role he holds dear. His influence and popularity continue to grow, as he remains a key figure in promoting Ghanaian and African music globally. KiDi’s most recent projects include the Blue EP, released in 2020, and his single "Touch It," which went viral, particularly on platforms like TikTok, amplifying his global reach.
