Bawumia Assures Young Ghanaians of Commitment to Their Concerns

The Vice President of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, has assured his country's teeming youth that his administration is committed to solving problems confronting the young people of this West African nation. The Vice President, while speaking during a youth empowerment forum in Accra, the capital city, acknowledged the various issues that young people in this country have canvassed including unemployment and access to education and economic opportunities.

Bawumia stresses the need to engage the youth in their aspirations and struggles. "I have engaged with you, and I am aware of your concerns," he said, noting that government programs were currently running to create jobs and develop skills. He went on to outline the government's plan for more vocational training programs and support for entrepreneurship to equip the young Ghanaian to contribute meaningfully within the competitive job market.

The Vice President said the youth constitute a greater proportion of the country's population and their potential is very vital for the development of the nation. He assured that government was committed to ensuring that the enabling environment for the young people to be innovative was provided in order to offer their best services to the economy. Bawumia noted various programs, among them the Youth Employment Agency and the Nation Builders Corps, that were testaments to the efforts that the government was making to reduce unemployment among Ghana's youths.

He added that technology has also played a crucial role in youth empowerment. Bawumia urged the youth to acquire digital skills and entrepreneurship, insisting that the economy of the future will largely depend on technological advancements. "We must harness your creativity and energy as we aim at building a prosperous future," he said.

The forum went down well, and indeed the young audience was so appreciative that the Vice President could hear them out. Bawumia assured them of continuous dialogue and support, an assurance which the audience needed, eager for tangible solutions to challenges that beset them.

As the Government intensifies its programs, it is willing to join hands and work with the youth in their collective efforts towards the development of a better Ghana. This should be taken to mean that Bawumia has indicated that this government will not wait for anything to happen but, rather, will ensure that the interests of the young Ghanaian are brought to national policy-level discussions.
