Following the death of Akua Donkor, founder and previous candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Roman Fada, also known as Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, became the party's presidential candidate for the 2024 elections and created the GFP in 2011. He died shortly after proclaiming his desire to run in the following election, necessitating this shift. From municipal politics as a Member of Parliament to national politics, where he fought prior elections and consistently backed the GFP's views, he was a major political figure in Ghana.

After she passed away, the Ghanaian Electoral Commission mandated that the GFP choose a new candidate in order to comply with election regulations. To facilitate this changeover, the Commission even temporarily stopped producing presidential votes. Previously Madam Donkor's running partner, Roman Fada is now the GFP's presidential contender. The purpose of his nomination is to guarantee the party's continuity while it gets ready for the elections in December 2024.

As Madam Donkor sought to accomplish, Roman Fada is anticipated to continue the GFP's mission by focusing on grassroots political participation and standing up for Ghana's rural communities. Given his experience and intimate connection to her, Roman Fada's selection gives GFP supporters optimism that the party will carry on its fight in her memory.

As the Ghana Freedom Party's (GFP) presidential candidate, Roman Fada confronts both possibilities and problems in guaranteeing the party's continued viability in Ghana. Akua Donkor, who was well-known for her grassroots appeal, had given the GFP a distinctive character as a voice for the working class and rural Ghanaians. Her direct communication approach and her attempts to solve issues affecting rural areas won her admiration. As her successor, Roman Fada must maintain this strategy while attending to the demands of the larger voter base.

Given his extensive experience with the GFP and his strong working connection with Donkor, Roman Fada's appointment makes him an obvious choice to carry on her mission. Fada has stated his commitment to following Donkor's beliefs and the party's commitment to assisting underrepresented Ghanaians. Economic empowerment for rural people, more political transparency, and addressing the persistent economic disparity that plagues Ghana's rural areas are anticipated to be the main focuses of his campaign approach.

Ghana's Electoral Commission responded promptly to the GFP's choice to move forward with Roman Fada as their candidate, allowing the party to nominate a new candidate in the wake of Donkor's passing. The Commission's adaptability shows that it recognizes the unique circumstances and allows GFP voters to continue supporting a candidate who shares Donkor's values and objectives in the next election.
