Shatta Wale Claims He Recorded 'On God' with Angels in the Room
Ghanaian dancehall legend Shatta Wale has made a bold and spiritual claim regarding the creation of his 2022 hit single, On God. During an appearance on Efia Odo's Rants, Bants and Confessions show, the artist opened up about the inspiration behind the anthem, revealing that angels were present in the room during its recording process.
Shatta Wale, known for his bold personality and innovative contributions to Ghana's music scene, shared that the comparisons drawn between him and rising star Black Sherif motivated him to create On God. He explained that the backlash and rivalry stirred up by industry pundits pushed him to channel his emotions and energy into something powerful.
"I was motivated by the doubters and naysayers who pitted me against Black Sherif," he said. "That energy drove me to create something special, and On God was born." The song went on to become a smash hit, affirming Shatta Wale's position as one of the leading forces in the Ghanaian music industry.
Reflecting on the recording process, Shatta Wale described how the track felt almost spiritual to him. He shared that, as he worked on the song, he could sense a divine presence in the room. "I started playing something in my room, and angels were sitting with me. The song was so spiritual to me before it even came out," he revealed. Shatta Wale added that he sometimes feels like his very presence stirs up divine energies, drawing a metaphor from the Bible. "When you touch me, it’s so serious that even Angel Michael gets pissed. Noah will bore, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego wouldn’t be happy because I’m like a burning furnace."
The dancehall star also took the opportunity to remind the public of his lasting impact on the industry, declaring, "In the Ghanaian entertainment scene, I am like the phoenix." This statement further emphasizes his belief that he is a powerful, transformative figure in music, capable of rising above challenges and continuing to set trends.
Shatta Wale’s confidence in his creative vision and his unique spiritual connection to his work were clear throughout the interview, positioning him as not only a musical pioneer but also a figure whose influence transcends the ordinary.
