In a lighthearted yet surprising incident, passengers in a Ghanaian “trotro”—a common type of commercial minibus—experienced an unusual delay when the driver and his mate took an impromptu break to snap selfies with a Tesla Cybertruck. This moment was shared widely on social media, with the original video posted by Sika Official on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The video showed the futuristic electric vehicle parked on the roadside at Tesano, Accra, capturing the fascination of the trotro crew, who couldn’t resist the allure of the vehicle's unique design.

The unexpected roadside pause caused a brief disruption for passengers, who watched as their driver and his mate eagerly posed for photos with the strikingly designed Cybertruck. Although it’s unclear who owns this particular vehicle, the sighting stirred curiosity and excitement among onlookers and online viewers alike.

The Cybertruck has recently become a hot topic in Ghana, especially after Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of Despite Media Group, became the first Ghanaian to acquire the vehicle. Dr. Despite’s Cybertruck was unveiled on October 28, 2024, drawing widespread attention across social media. This purchase came after his 2022 acquisition of a $3 million Bugatti Chiron, solidifying his reputation for collecting rare and high-end automobiles.

Following Dr. Despite's purchase, another high-profile Ghanaian, Kojo Forex, joined the Cybertruck owners club. In a viral video, the popular forex trader is seen paying cash for his Cybertruck while explaining its high-tech features to his followers. The Dubai-based socialite has since sparked considerable buzz online, receiving congratulations as well as some skepticism from viewers.

The 2024 Tesla Cybertruck, with prices ranging from $81,895 to $101,985, is as much a technological marvel as it is a luxury item. Equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system and 600 horsepower, the Cybertruck can travel an estimated 340 miles on a single charge and reach a top speed of 112 mph. Its bold, angular design and powerful specs make it a standout on the road, even in bustling urban areas like Accra.

For the trotro driver and his mate, encountering a Cybertruck firsthand was an opportunity not to be missed, even if it meant momentarily delaying their journey. The moment perfectly illustrates the vehicle's cultural impact, capturing the imaginations of Ghanaians and symbolizing a new era of luxury and innovation in the country.
