Honorable Abdulai Abanga, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Binduri and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development (LGDRD), has made a significant donation of eight motorbikes to the Ghana Education Service (GES) School Improvement and Support Officers (SISOs), previously known as Circuit Supervisors, in his constituency. The donation was part of his broader initiative aimed at improving the quality of education and strengthening the monitoring of schools in Binduri. The motorbikes will help SISOs carry out their essential duties in supporting, monitoring, and evaluating educational activities across the district.
The presentation of the motorbikes was made by Hon. Ayinga Yakubu, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who represented the MP during the handover ceremony. The event took place at the District Assembly forecourt, where Hon. Yakubu took the opportunity to highlight Hon. Abanga’s unwavering commitment to enhancing education in Binduri. He emphasized the MP’s leadership and his continuous efforts to create a better learning environment for students in the constituency.
This donation is a part of Hon. Abanga’s "Operation 1 SISO, 1 Motorbike" initiative, a project designed to provide SISOs with the tools they need to perform their roles more efficiently. SISOs are tasked with the critical job of overseeing the educational standards in the district, including visiting schools, monitoring teaching and learning progress, evaluating performance, and offering guidance to teachers. However, their work is often hindered by the lack of proper transportation, which can make it difficult for them to reach remote areas, assess school performance, and ensure that educational objectives are being met. With the motorbikes, SISOs will be able to cover their areas more effectively and promptly, leading to improved school supervision.
The motorbikes, according to Hon. Abanga, will serve as a catalyst for enhancing the monitoring and evaluation processes within the educational sector in Binduri. He believes that by equipping the SISOs with this essential resource, they will be able to engage more actively with schools, identify challenges more quickly, and provide better support to teachers and students alike. The initiative is in line with the MP’s vision for improving the education system in Binduri and ensuring that students receive a high-quality education.
In addition to improving the functionality of the GES officers, this donation also represents a broader effort by Hon. Abanga to contribute to the overall development of Binduri. His leadership is characterized by a focus on practical solutions to address the challenges faced by his constituents. The motorbike initiative is just one of many efforts that the MP has undertaken to enhance services in the district, particularly in education, which he views as one of the most important pillars for the region’s future development.
The ceremony also offered an opportunity to reaffirm the MP’s dedication to public service and his commitment to addressing the needs of his people. Hon. Abanga’s leadership style is widely regarded as that of a servant leader, someone who places the needs of his constituents at the forefront of his actions. This donation is a clear reflection of his efforts to serve Binduri and improve the living standards of the people.
Furthermore, the initiative has garnered widespread support from the community, as the motorbikes will not only benefit the SISOs but will also indirectly contribute to the overall improvement of the education sector in the district. The improved supervision and support that the SISOs can provide will ultimately lead to better educational outcomes, which will have a positive impact on the students and the community at large.
Hon. Abanga’s servant leadership and dedication to the people of Binduri remain strong, and this motorbike donation is another testament to his commitment to their development. His ongoing efforts to enhance the education system in Binduri will surely play a crucial role in shaping the future of the constituency, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow for the youth and their communities.
