Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to develop an "Airport City" in the Manhyia North constituency in the Ashanti Region when he is elected president in the upcoming 2024 elections. Dr. Bawumia made this bold declaration during a campaign tour of the area, addressing hundreds of supporters and local residents who gathered to hear his vision for the future of the region.

According to Bawumia, it is such projects that are going to increase economic activities within the subregion, create more employment opportunities, and better infrastructure. Located at a point close to the Kumasi International Airport-one of the busiest airports in Ghana-the planned development will boast first-class modern commercial, residential, and leisure facilities. He added that the project will help in regional connectivity and foreign investment that will boost local businesses and industries.

"This Airport City is going to be the hub for economic development and a centre for innovation and entrepreneurship," Bawumia told the crowd. "We are going to put up world-class infrastructure, jobs in thousands, and make Kumasi and the Ashanti Region a major player on the globe's economic map."

He showed that the development of Airport City is in tandem with his bigger vision for the development of modern infrastructure for Ghana, with opportunities for all Ghanaian people, particularly those in the regional capitals. He added that the project would be closely linked with his government's commitment to strengthen the private sector and attract investment into key sectors such as tourism, manufacturing, and technology.

He also cited records of his administration in major projects across the country, from roads, to schools and hospitals, as a testament to his ability to execute big promises.

Residents of Manhyia North embraced this announcement with high expectations for development that the project could bring to their community.

As the campaign gains momentum, many will be observing how Bawumia can translate these promises into tangible performances.
