Donald Trump Vows No Price Tag on Massive Immigration Crackdown

Donald Trump has reiterated his commitment to an aggressive immigration reform plan, declaring that he will pursue large-scale deportations without regard to the cost. The President-elect stated in an NBC interview that securing the border is a priority for his administration, especially amid a recent surge in undocumented entries at the southern U.S. border. According to Trump, monthly crossings have reportedly reached up to 300,000, pushing the estimated undocumented population to about 11 million—though Trump asserts the real number could be closer to 20 million.

Trump described the current immigration situation as a national imperative, framing his plans as essential to address crime and drug trafficking allegedly linked to undocumented immigration. “It’s not a question of a price tag,” he said. “When people have committed serious crimes, they need to go back to their countries. They’re not staying here.” He emphasized that his administration’s goal is to restore border security and prevent illegal entry, stating, “We have no choice. We must make the border strong and powerful.”

However, Trump clarified that his stance does not preclude welcoming immigrants who follow legal procedures. "I’m not someone who says, ‘No, you can’t come in,’” he said. “We want people to come in who love this country, and who come legally.”

Trump’s approach to immigration has drawn criticism from opponents, who argue that his policies are racially charged. However, Trump claims that his stance has attracted support from various communities, including Asian and Latino voters who share his desire for secure borders.

In addition to his immigration plan, Trump announced that Susie Wiles, his current campaign manager, would be his first female White House Chief of Staff. Known for her experience and strategic prowess, Wiles is expected to play a key role in implementing Trump’s agenda. Trump praised Wiles as “tough, smart, [and] innovative,” noting her successful work with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and previous experience in the Reagan administration.

Trump’s ambitious plans have set the stage for a controversial start to his term, as his administration moves to balance strict immigration enforcement with pathways for legal entry, amid an ongoing national debate over border security and immigration reform.
