The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, hailed former President John Dramani Mahama for strong and proven records of sound economic management. According to Gyamfi, Mahama's presidency was proof of ability in handling the country's economy and has become a legend on matters touching on growth and stability of same.
Gyamfi made this known at a press briefing in Accra while reacting to various criticisms against the economic stewardship of Mr Mahama. He explained that contrary to the claims of the current administration, Mahama's leadership was instrumental for guiding Ghana's economy through various challenges and positioning it toward long-term growth.
Under President Mahama's time, Ghana's economy had seen great growth; recording a very consistent growth in the GDP despite the prevailing economic situations around the world at that time. "His government was able to put in place a policy that was attracting investment and creating jobs," Gyamfi said.
House Infrastructure projects involving extending road networks, building hospitals, and developing the energy sector of the country were all efforts to try to show clear examples of Mahama's commitment to national progress. The NDC Communications Officer explained, "Mahama's ability to navigate through the complexities of managing a developing economy added to his vision and competence.
Gyamfi further clarified that accusations of the current government's economic hardships being a result of Mahama's policies were baseless, underlining that it was mismanagement and incompetence by the current administration that had plunged the country into fiscal difficulties.
"The current economic hardship is a direct outcome of bad governance under the Akufo-Addo-led administration, which has failed to make prudent decisions and put proper policies in place," he added.
Concluding, Sammy Gyamfi emphasized that John Mahama is the most qualified leader to bring back the economic stability of Ghana. He called on Ghanaians to revert to his achievements and the foundation he laid for sustainable development.
The NDC still trumpets Mahama as the best candidate to lead the country forward, promising to build on his record and tackle the economic hardships that have plagued the nation in recent years.
