Brentford showcased resilience and tactical prowess as they came from behind twice to defeat AFC Bournemouth 3-2, preserving their unbeaten home record this season. This victory highlights Brentford's home strength and exposes Bournemouth's ongoing struggles away from the Vitality Stadium, where they have only managed a single road victory this campaign.

The last time Bournemouth claimed a win over Brentford in London was nearly two decades ago, when Martin Allen and Sean O’Driscoll were at the helm. Determined to break their 19-year drought, Bournemouth pressed forward from the outset. Antoine Semenyo tested Mark Flekken with a low drive early on, and Marcos Senesi squandered a prime opportunity by blasting over from close range off a Ryan Christie cross. Brentford’s defensive lapse eventually gifted Bournemouth the lead when Sepp van den Berg’s errant backpass allowed Evanilson to intercept, slip past Flekken, and score into an open net.

Brentford’s slow start saw them take over 20 minutes to muster a shot, but a few minutes later, Vitaly Janelt’s attempt galvanized the hosts. Shortly afterward, Brentford leveled the score with Yoane Wissa heading in from a Mathias Jensen throw-in that Bournemouth failed to clear. The second half continued with thrilling action, as Bournemouth regained the lead just two minutes after the restart. A well-executed corner saw Lewis Cook find Justin Kluivert, who fired past Flekken. Brentford responded instantly, with Mikkel Damsgaard squeezing his shot between Kepa Arrizabalaga and the near post.

Brentford seized control with Janelt’s clever dummy and through ball that set up Wissa’s second goal of the day, elegantly chipped over Kepa. Brentford then managed the game well to avoid another late collapse, despite a missed opportunity from Bryan Mbeumo. Their victory propelled them into the top half of the table, while Bournemouth continued to struggle on the road, contrasting with impressive home wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.
