At the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala on November 7, 2024, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer for Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasized his mission to elevate the country’s political discussions from superficial promises to data-driven, issue-based dialogue. Speaking at the Movenpick Hotel, Bawumia reflected on his public service experience and efforts to ground political discourse in substantive matters that address Ghana’s pressing needs.

Throughout his tenure as Vice President, Bawumia explained that he has advocated for solutions grounded in data and evidence, an approach he believes is essential for genuine progress. "Political discourse in Ghana has long been dominated by empty promises and posturing," he stated, underlining his commitment to refocusing the conversation on tangible topics like economic growth, infrastructure, and job creation.

Bawumia attributed Ghana’s developmental challenges in part to a political culture centered on vague pledges rather than clear, actionable goals. He argued that fostering an environment for informed, evidence-backed debates is critical to moving the country forward. Highlighting his track record of promoting data-backed policies, he noted that this shift brings greater accountability and transparency, ultimately benefiting the public.

The NPP flagbearer called on Ghanaian leaders and CEOs to contribute to this transformation by supporting a discourse that prioritizes real issues over rhetoric. "As distinguished leaders, your involvement can elevate Ghana’s political conversations from rhetoric and misinformation to meaningful discussions that address our national challenges," he urged.

Concluding his address, Bawumia promised that, if elected president, he would continue to champion issue-based governance. His vision includes a political environment where policies are discussed transparently and are designed to produce real, measurable outcomes. By advancing this approach, Bawumia hopes to set a precedent for political accountability and inspire future leaders to adopt a similar focus on evidence-based solutions for national progress.

This dedication to issue-focused dialogue is seen as a shift in Ghana’s political landscape, moving towards a system where facts and data hold a central role. Bawumia’s message resonated with attendees, signaling a potential change in Ghanaian politics—one that aligns leadership with the practical needs of the country.
