NPP is bleeding we are going through hell in the hands of Speaker -Afenyo-Markin
The apparent frustration of Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin at Speaker Alban Bagbin is that the New Patriotic Party is "bleeding" under the wheels of the Speaker. According to Afenyo-Markin, Bagbin has consistently worked to undermine the party's position in the House and has refused to engage in critical dialogue, a situation he describes as tense in the House.
Afenyo-Markin shared a personal experience where he and Dr. Ato Forson were summoned by the Speaker, only to be stood up. Despite his numerous attempts at reconciliation, the Speaker remained incommunicado and further heightened frustrations in the NPP ranks.
Afenyo-Markin made the comments in reaction to a hearing in the Supreme Court on vacant parliamentary seats, as the court listens to arguments from both sides. The Supreme Court is set to deliver a landmark judgment on the Speaker's decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant on Tuesday, 12th November 2024.
In a call for unity, Afenyo-Markin stressed that he is for consensus-building and referred to himself as a centrist politician. He remains open to the Speaker's "olive branch" and wishes Bagbin could show statesmanship .
Key Developments:
- Supreme Court Hearing: The court considered arguments on vacant parliamentary seats
-NPP Frustrations: Afenyo-Markin expresses deep concern over Speaker's actions.
I will like you the reader to leave your comments on the current happenings in Ghana concerning parliament and it's activities.
I do know that what is discussed here may not change anything but there is one thing, which is development. Are we developing as a nation or we are just trying to prove how superior we can be with our positions to the neglect of the people who give this power to those who hold it?
Is is because of this I need your input, the country needs our help, we need parliament to stop showing "guy guy" to the common citizen and do the works they have to do.
