The Ghanaian national team has announced the withdrawal of eight key players due to various injuries and personal reasons. The affected players are:
Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Jonas Adjetey, Jerome Opoku, Antoine Semenyo, Alexander Djiku, Ibrahim Osman, and Joseph Painstil.
1. Inaki Williams: A hamstring injury sustained on November 7 has hindered Williams' training, rendering him unfit for national team duties.
2. Tariq Lamptey: Calf discomfort, aggravated last week, necessitates rehabilitation with his club, ensuring a full recovery.
3. Jonas Adjetey: After showing promise in his recovery, Adjetey suffered a setback during his team's last League game on November 9.
4. Jerome Opoku: Chronic back pain, exacerbated by a Süper Lig match against Besiktas on November 10, requires Opoku to undergo rehabilitation with his club.
5. Antoine Semenyo: Overload of games led to a patella tendon injury. Consulting a tendon specialist will prevent further complications.
6. Alexander Djiku: An aggravated hamstring injury, resulting in substitution during his last game on November 10, necessitates recovery time.
7. Ibrahim Osman: A hamstring injury sustained during his last club outing led to halftime substitution.
8. Joseph Painstil: Painstil withdrew due to personal some reasons.
These withdrawals pose challenges for the national team's upcoming matches. Coach Otto Addo must strategize and adjust the lineup to compensate for the absent players.
The injuries are ones which are now common in football and players are affected day in day out. And also many players have personal reasons why they won't get close to the national team any time sooner, they Ghana football association must wake and do the right things.
In the meantime the head coach and his team would have gotten in replacements for those who couldn't make the journey to Ghana to begin preparations for the qualifiers this week.
It has come to a point where the coach must step his game and make it happen for Ghana, even if the team doesn't qualify, there must be great improvements for Ghanaians to have hope and believe ahead of next year's world cup qualification matches.
