Ruud van Nistelrooy’s brief tenure as interim manager of Manchester United came to an end on Monday, marking a significant shift at the club as new head coach Ruben Amorim arrived to take charge. Van Nistelrooy, a former United legend who scored 150 goals during his playing career at Old Trafford, had stepped into the managerial role following the sacking of Erik ten Hag late last month.

During his short spell, Van Nistelrooy managed to secure three wins and one draw, including a 3-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday. Despite the positive results, which helped stabilize the club, the 48-year-old was not included in the new coaching staff under Amorim. Manchester United confirmed in a statement that Van Nistelrooy and fellow coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel had left the club. While the statement expressed gratitude for Van Nistelrooy's contributions, it was clear that the club was moving in a new direction under the Portuguese manager.

Van Nistelrooy reflected positively on his brief time in charge, expressing his enjoyment of the role and appreciation for the support from fans. He acknowledged the challenging position the club was in but emphasized the importance of doing his best to help. “It’s been a short but amazing period,” he said, signaling that while his time was fleeting, he valued the experience.

Ruben Amorim, who was appointed as United’s new manager earlier in November, arrived at Carrington on Monday, ready to begin his tenure. The 39-year-old coach had led Sporting Lisbon to multiple trophies, and his transformation of the club’s fortunes made him a highly sought-after managerial candidate.

Amorim is aware of the immense challenge ahead of him at Old Trafford, acknowledging that the task will be tough but expressing confidence in his readiness. United, currently sitting 13th in the Premier League, will hope that Amorim’s arrival can spark a turnaround, with his first match in charge set for November 24 against Ipswich Town.

For Manchester United, the future hinges on Amorim's ability to rebuild a squad that has struggled under the weight of recent managerial changes, and he will aim to restore the club to its former glory, both domestically and in Europe.
