Antonio, 34, landed at Kotoka International Airport on November 10, where he was greeted by the Ghanaian Hammers, a group of local West Ham fans. During his visit, Antonio plans to travel to Bompata, Kumasi, to inspect the academy project he has been helping develop. As part of his involvement, Antonio will engage with the players at the Samba Stars Academy, offering mentorship and guidance to young talents, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Antonio expressed his excitement about his visit, emphasizing the potential of Ghanaian football talent. He noted the success of players like Mohammed Kudus, who currently plays for West Ham, as an inspiration for his investment in the academy. “We know about all the talent here; we’ve seen Mo [Kudus] is at the club right now,” Antonio said. He also highlighted his goal of providing local players with opportunities to play in the Premier League and beyond. “It’s just obviously the talent in the pool that Ghana has,” he added. “We want to give the boys here the opportunity to break through to the Premier League.” everything shows and we do not need anymore proves that Ghana is a host of football talents that if natured well, will becoming award winning football stars in all or most great leagues of our time.
