Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said he is sure of emerging victorious in the 2024 presidential elections. He has affirmed that he is prepared to be President after the forthcoming elections. Speaking at a political rally in Accra, Dr. Bawumia said the ruling New Patriotic Party is united and prepared to go ahead with the transformation of the nation.
Flagbearer of the NPP for the forthcoming elections, Dr. Bawumia, recalled his record in government and what he has been able to do to help shape the country's economic policies. He said that under the current leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, great strides had been made in important sectors like education, infrastructure, and innovation in the digital space, which he would like to build upon in his own administration.
As he said, "We have made tremendous progress, and I am proud of the work that we have done. But there is still much to be done, and I am committed to taking Ghana to the next level". He added that in years to come, his government was committed to creating jobs, improving livelihoods, and increasing economic growth across the country.
The Vice President took advantage of the opportunity to lash at the opposition, particularly the National Democratic Congress, for being out of tune with current realities of the country. He reiterated that the NPP has the leadership and vision needed to propel Ghana forward.
Dr. Bawumia is saying all these at a time when political temperatures are rising, with both the NPP and the NDC gearing toward what is considered an election that will be among the most closely contested anytime soon. His declaration of victory was, therefore, welcomed with ululations among the rank and file of the party, who sounded optimistic about his potentials to take the country to higher heights.
As the election season gains momentum, all eyes are on Dr. Bawumia and his campaign, as many analysts predict a tight race between incumbent NPP and opposition NDC. The 2024 elections are expected to be pivotal in shaping the future course of Ghana's political and economic landscape.
Vice President Bawumia's declaration of confidence reflects his preparedness for the challenges ahead in leading Ghana into the next phase of its democratic journey.
