As the days go by, and election 2024 draws near; the communication and campaign team for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, seems to be losing its footing. The once-vibrant, vocal, and so-called "economic Wizard" is now in a state of confusion.
Dr. Bawumia's economic policies, once touted as revolutionary, are now being questioned by experts and citizens alike. His promised economic growth and development have failed to materialize, leaving many wondering if Dr. Bawumia and his camp are credible and truly up to the task.
Campaign Messages Falling Apart
- Lack of Clear Vision: Some Ghanaians have argue that, the NPP's flagbearer Bawumia and his campaign team's economic strategy is unclear and inconsistent, leading to widespread confusion and uncertainty.
- Loss of Public Trust: The team's failure to deliver on promises after almost 8 year in office as a Vice President and Head of Ghana's Economic Management team, (EMT), has eroded public confidence, making it increasingly difficult to regain momentum.
-Considering the current cost of living in Ghana and listening Dr. Bawumia and his communication team during their campaign tours; one cannot help but conclude, that President Nana Addo and his government (which includes Bawumia), has performed abysmally, and that has negatively affected the living condition in the country.
Whiles in opposition, Nana Addo fiercely defended the fact that, he selected Dr. Bawumia as running mate due to his background; and we were told that he was the "economic Wskid or messiah" who was coming to transform the country's economy and bring about growth, jobs and prosperity for all.
Dr. Bawumia; as an economist who eventually became Vice President and Chairman of the Economic Management Team for almost eight (8) years, has turned out to be totally catastrophic; because has supervised the most abysmal economic performance in the history of Ghana's fourth republic.
Bawumia's "Escape From Sorbobor":
The Vice President After supervising a near-collapse of the economy, and turning the whole nation into hardship, has suddenly gone mute on the economy and turned himself into a so-called digital man". He is obviously doing his best to distance himself from the political ramifications of his abysmal performance thereby unknowingly "degrading" himself into a position he call "driver's mate".
Dr. Bawumia's Key Failures:
1. The Ghanaian Cedi's depreciation against major currencies, particularly the US Dollar.
2. Rising inflation rates.
3. Concerns about excessive borrowing, leading to increased debt-to-GDP ratio.
4. Slow economic growth, with GDP growth rates declining.
5. High unemployment rates, particularly among youth.
6. Increased debt servicing costs, straining government finances.
7. Inefficient energy sector management, leading to power outages and financial losses.
8. Free SHS Policy: Concerns about funding, implementation, and quality of education.
9. Criticisms over the Planting for Food and Jobs program's effectiveness and sustainability.
10. Paperless Port System leading to technical issues and revenue losses.
11. Banking Sector Reforms: Controversies surrounding the collapse of indigenous banks.
As Ghanaians living continuously deteriorate, many are left into a state of wondering; and with the BIG QUESTIONS...is Dr. Bawumia really credible...is he truly an economist...was he really what the Nana Addo led NPP said he was? Only time will tell.
