Namibia’s struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign continued with a frustrating 0-0 draw against Cameroon at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday. Despite playing against a powerful Cameroon team, Namibia held their own throughout the match, but the deadlock could not be broken, leaving both teams with a share of the spoils.
Cameroon, known for their attacking prowess, came into the game with a strong lineup. However, Namibia surprised them early on by creating the first shots on goal. The Brave Warriors' aggressive counter-pressing disrupted Cameroon’s rhythm, but as the game progressed, the Indomitable Lions started to gain control of the ball and apply more pressure. Despite several attacks, Cameroon could not capitalize on their chances, with Andre Onana and his defenders managing to hold firm.
In the first half, Namibia created some nervy moments for Cameroon, with Onana making two crucial saves to keep his side in the game. While Cameroon looked dangerous on the break, they struggled to break down Namibia’s defense. The first half ended goalless, with both teams unable to find the back of the net.
The second half saw Namibia come out with renewed energy, and Prins Tjiueza came close to giving his team the lead in the 50th minute. Tjiueza’s header from a cross hit the upright, and his follow-up attempt bounced off the crossbar, ensuring the score remained 0-0. Namibia continued to press, but Cameroon, led by Vincent Aboubakar, had their own chances in the final third. However, strong defensive work from Namibia’s backline kept Cameroon at bay.
As the match neared its conclusion, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. This result leaves Namibia still searching for their first win in the group, while Cameroon will be disappointed not to have secured the three points.
