A bit about the departed Coach Michael Osei

'Micky' as he is affectionately known was born and raised in Asawase in Kumasi and played for Okwawu United with the likes of Agyeman Duah, Alhaji Bello, Yaw Acheampong, C.K. Akunnor and others. He was reportedly recommended to Okwawu United by his cousin, Tony Yeboah, a former Okwawu United player, at the time Osei was playing for Kumasi-based Neoplan Stars.

Micky is a proud product of the then Ghana Football Colts system and turned out for Suame-based Anokye Stars in Kumasi.

Osei was transferred to Kotoko in 1989. Micky won the Ghana First Division league with Kotoko in 1990/91 and 1991/92 seasons respectively.

National Team Service:

Osei served Ghana at the Under-20 level in 1989 before he later became a firm favourite of coach Burkhard Ziese for the Black Stars particularly during the qualifying series to Senegal 1992 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was used as an attacking midfielder. He perhaps missed the tournament itself because Ziese was replaced by Otto Pfister.

European Journey:

Micky played in Austria just after leaving Kotoko. He then played for German outfit Mainz 05 with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, and later played for German clubs like Eintracht Frankfurt.

Coach:

He later had his coaching badges via German club FSV Frankfurt before his appointment to Kotoko as assistant coach and later the interim first team coach.

The Man won the 'President Cup' in Ghana both as a player (1991) and a coach (2016).

He managed clubs like, Liberty Professionals, Star Madrid and most recently, Bibiani Gold Stars.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Perfect Peace
