Chelsea Women moved to the top of the Women's Super League (WSL) standings on Saturday with a commanding 2-0 victory over Manchester City, thanks to second-half goals from Mayra Ramirez and Guro Reiten. The win extended Chelsea's impressive run to seven consecutive league victories, lifting them to 21 points, two ahead of second-placed City, with a game in hand. Brighton & Hove Albion sit in third, just three points behind City.

The match at Kingsmeadow had a tense and tactical feel, with Chelsea allowing City to dominate possession. However, despite the visitors' greater share of the ball, neither side was able to produce significant threats in the opening 70 minutes. Both teams struggled to test the goalkeepers, with Chelsea content to sit back and absorb pressure while looking for counter-attacking opportunities.

Ramirez finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, pouncing on a well-weighted pass from Maika Hamano. Ramirez used her physicality to nudge City defender Alanna Kennedy off the ball before charging towards goal. The Costa Rican forward then showed great composure to cut inside Alex Greenwood and slot the ball past City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita, giving Chelsea the lead.

Just four minutes later, Reiten sealed the win for Chelsea. City failed to clear a corner from the left, and the ball found its way back to Reiten on the right side of the penalty area. With a calm and composed finish, the Norwegian winger curled the ball inside the far post, doubling Chelsea's advantage and effectively securing all three points.

Elsewhere in the league, Arsenal continued their strong resurgence with a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, lifting them to fourth place in the standings. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion secured a thrilling 3-2 win over West Ham United, with Fran Kirby scoring the decisive goal in the 82nd minute.

The win against Manchester City was another statement performance for Chelsea, who have proven themselves to be the team to beat in this season's WSL. With a game in hand and a strong squad led by manager Emma Hayes, Chelsea are in prime position to defend their title and extend their dominance at the top of English women's football.
