Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Ruben Amorim over Man Utd appointment
Cristiano Ronaldo has sent his best wishes to Ruben Amorim as the latter begins work as Manchester United manager.
Amorim joined up with United earlier this week after ending his spell with Sporting CP and has already begun work with the players who did not depart for international duty in anticipation of his first game in charge against Ipswich Town.
There are high hopes for Amorim, who many United fans have backed to finally reverse the club's fortunes, and Ronaldo admitted the Red Devils are in desperate need of some "luck" when it comes to managers.
"I wish Ruben Amorim all the luck in the world because Manchester needs it," Ronaldo said after scoring twice in Friday's 5-1 win over Poland.
Ronaldo was not the only Portugal star quizzed on Amorim after the match, with Manchester City's Bernardo Silva also voicing his excitement towards seeing more of his countrymen in the Premier League as he prepares to link up with Sporting CP technical director Hugo Viana at the Etihad Stadium next season.
"Having another coach and a director, who will be on my side from next season, increases the representation of Portuguese people in the best league in the world," Silva added. "It always makes me very proud, without a doubt.
"This country is so small, but so big at the same time, because it has such a strong influence on football.
"I still don't know Hugo Viana personally, but I'm happy that we have another one to help and, being Portuguese, there's always a slightly more special connection."
