The Chief of Nkwabeng, Nana Appiah Adu Obrempong V, has made a heartfelt call for peace and unity in Ghana, particularly as the country approaches the general elections on December 7.
This call was made during the celebration of Kwafie festival in Nkwabeng, a suburb of Nkoranza in the Bono East Region, on Friday, 15th November, 2024, where the Chief emphasized the significance of the festival in promoting community bonding and purification.
He urged the people of Nkwabeng to put aside past conflicts to let bygones be bygones and work together towards progress with peace and unity, stressing that inclusivity is key to achieving success.
Nana Appiah Adu Obrempong V urged the youth to remain at the forefront of peace in the run-up to Election 2024.
“The country belongs to the youth, who are usually full of hope and great ambitions,” he said, asking them to remain guarded and not allow themselves to be used as conduits for political violence.
Nana Appiah Adu Obrempong V, indicated that the youth constituted an integral segment of society “whose future cannot be toyed with” and urged the youthful population to contribute their quota to averting political violence.
"If the chiefs and people of Nkwabeng pray for success, they will achieve more success, therefore I call for inclusivity in the effort to develop Nkwabengman", he expressed.
In an exclusive interview with Fabea FM's Apiah-Kubi, the Chief highlighted the importance of peace during and after the elections. He advised voters to prioritize development and vote accordingly.
We must appreciate our differences and learn how to live together as people, he stated, and urged the youth, leaders to be mindful of their utterances, refrain from inciting each other, groups against one another.
Nana Appiah Adu Obrempong V advised everybody to endeavour to verify or fact check before spreading information and entreated political parties to endeavour to accept the outcome of the Election 2024.
The Chief also demonstrated his commitment to the community by donating 75 pieces of clothing, along with funds for sewing them. This generous gesture, according to him underscores his dedication to promoting peace and development in Nkwabengman.
We can’t take things for granted, he stated and called for the need for all to remain watchful and report people with suspicious characters and movements to the security services, ahead of the Elections.
The chief said in our respective roles in promoting peace, peaceful co-existence, and tolerance as well as identifying and countering misinformation to make Ghana safe and peaceful.
