Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United manager, has been spotted back in Manchester just three weeks after his abrupt dismissal.

The Dutchman, whose tenure at Old Trafford ended following a disappointing loss to West Ham, visited his favourite restaurant in Hale Village.

Ten Hag, accompanied by his wife Bianca, dined at Piccolino, a popular Italian spot he frequented during his two years in Manchester.

This visit coincided with the arrival of his successor, Ruben Amorim, who had just completed his first training session as United’s new boss.

A quiet return amid major changes

Ten Hag’s trip was more than a casual visit.

Earlier in the day, he was seen clearing out possessions from his nearby mansion, signaling the end of his chapter with the club.

Despite his dismissal, the Dutchman holds memories of success at Old Trafford, including Carabao Cup and FA Cup victories during his time as manager.

Piccolino had become a significant place for Ten Hag during his tenure. He visited the restaurant after both challenging defeats and triumphant wins, such as the dramatic FA Cup victory over Liverpool last season.

Meanwhile, Amorim has wasted no time setting his own course at United. The Portuguese coach, known for his tactical expertise, introduced his preferred 3-4-3 formation during training this week.

With several key players on international duty, Amorim worked with stars like Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw as he prepared for his debut match against Ipswich Town.

Amorim makes bold moves

One of Amorim’s first decisions as manager was to remove Ruud van Nistelrooy from his coaching staff.

Van Nistelrooy, who served as Ten Hag’s assistant before stepping in as interim manager, was deemed surplus to requirements.

Amorim’s appointment follows a collective decision by United’s leadership to part ways with Ten Hag, despite his achievements. Poor performances and a rocky start to the season left the club feeling they had no choice but to make a change.

As Manchester United turns the page under Amorim’s leadership, fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see if the club can regain its former glory.
