Here are some of the things to avoid during pregnancy for a safe and  healthy pregnancy:

1. Smoking – Smoking  increases the risk of preterm birth, low birth weight, and developmental problems. It also harms the placenta and can lead to respiratory issues for the baby.

2.  Alcoholism – Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, leading to physical and developmental disabilities in the baby.


3. Consuming Raw or Undercooked Foods – Avoid raw or undercooked seafood, eggs, meat, or poultry to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses, such as listeria and toxoplasmosis, which can harm the baby.


4. Caffeine Intake – Too much caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriage and low birth weight. Limit caffeine to no more than 200 milligrams per day (about one 12-ounce cup of coffee).


5. Excessive Stress – High levels of stress can negatively impact both the mother and baby. Stress may increase the risk of preterm birth and low birth weight. Practice relaxation techniques to manage stress.


6. Certain Medications – Always consult your doctor before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, as some drugs can harm the baby or interfere with pregnancy.


7. Hot Tubs and Saunas – High temperatures can increase the risk of neural tube defects and cause overheating. Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and long hot baths.


8. Heavy Lifting and Strenuous Exercise – Avoid lifting heavy objects and engaging in high-risk or intense activities that could lead to injury. Instead, opt for moderate, pregnancy-safe exercises like walking or swimming.


9. Exposure to Toxic Chemicals – Avoid exposure to harmful chemicals such as pesticides, cleaning products with strong fumes, and certain paints, as these can harm the developing baby.


10. Tanning and Sun Exposure – Excessive sun exposure increases the risk of skin damage and dehydration. Protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid tanning beds to reduce potential harm to both you and the baby.
