Herbert Krapa who was the Deputy Energy Minister of Ghana was named the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) after Keli Gadzekpo resigned shortly
He was later succeeded by Alexander Afenyo-Markin(The Majority Leader of Parliament of Ghana) as the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana following the severe power outages that happened recently
According to President Akufo-Addo, he appointed him because he displayed professionalism and leadership during his tenure as the Minister of state of the Energy Ministry which is a good attitude towards work and such an attitude will aid in the continuous progress and stability of the Energy Sector of Ghana
He was appointed barely three weeks before the much awaited 2024 General Elections of Ghana
The substantive Minister of Energy will start work effectively on the 19th of November which is a Tuesday
In a statement issued by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo commended Mr. Krapa for his leadership and hard work, expressing confidence in his ability to excel in this new role.
Herbert Krapa had previously been appointed as the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry earlier this year, following the resignation of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who is now the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming 2024 elections
Mr Herbert Krapa, has served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy since July 15, 2024.
The statement further highlighted that President Akufo-Addo is relying on Mr Krapa's proven hard work and leadership skills to drive the Energy Ministry’s agenda.
In his new role, Krapa is expected to oversee critical developments in the energy sector, ensuring the successful implementation of key policies and projects to meet the country’s energy needs.
Much is expected of him as the newly appointed substantive Energy Minister of Ghana
