President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that over 200,000 health personnel have been recruited under his administration, as part of the government's effort to resuscitate the health systems in Ghana. This success story, which has been a main feat of recent years, is hedged on the government's general commitment to revamping healthcare delivery across the country.
In a speech during the recent public event, President Akufo-Addo noted that such recruitment was intended to solve the serious shortage of healthcare workers in both urban and rural areas. According to him, the newly recruited personnel in the doctor, nurse, midwife, laboratory technician, and other allied medical professions are now considered deployed to various health facilities across the country, with much emphasis on areas in highest need.
"These new recruits are an important part of our program to ensure that every Ghanaian, no matter where they live, has access to quality healthcare. We will continue to commit all that is required to support our health workers and ensure that they are able to execute their critical roles effectively," President Akufo-Addo said.
Besides increasing the number of health workers, the Akufo-Addo administration has also invested in the expansion and upgrading of healthcare infrastructure, including building new hospitals and clinics, and providing modern medical equipment to ease the burden on the existing health facilities and achieve better patient care.
The President further pointed out that the recruitment of these health personnel is in line with the government's general vision of building a healthier and more prosperous nation. He called on the newly appointed healthcare workers to remain dedicated and serve the people of Ghana with professionalism and compassion.
The recruitment of over 200,000 health personnel is expected to have a significant impact on improving the quality of healthcare services and reducing the pressure on healthcare facilities, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The government continues to prioritize health as a key pillar of its national development agenda.
