The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a dialogue for parliamentary candidates in the Nkoranza South constituency, in the Bono East Region, creating the platform for parliamentary candidates to interact with the electorates on their visions for Nkoranza South.

The dialogue was aimed at keeping the citizens informed about the intentions of the various candidates and their visions for the constituency.

Ms. Owusu Marian, the Nkoranza South municipal Director for the NCCE, told Fabea FM's Apiah-Kubi that the Commission undertook a nationwide survey to seek the concerns of the citizenry on their expectations from the candidates.

Ms. Marian said some of the nationwide concerns of the citizens were based on education, health, employment, economy, agriculture, and road infrastructure.

She said the NCCE then initiated the dialogue based on the concerns shared by the citizens, for the candidates to make their intentions and policies known on the issues to their people.

“So, we name the dialogue, ‘Matters of concern to the Ghanaian voter,’ and in the Nkoranza South Constituency, we have four candidates, from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) and People's National Convention (PNC)," she said.

Although the programme was successful, she expressed concern about the absence of madam Harriet Oppong Kyeremanteng (NPP), Sabastian Gaata (LPG) and Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum (NDC), saying her office consulted the candidates before confirming the date for the dialogue.

“We served them letters, based on their concerns, we chose this very day, 21st November, 2024, for the programme but it is just an unfortunate one candidate turned up. We are so glad that the PNC candidate was here to engage with the citizens,” she explained.

Ms. Florence Ampour, the PNC Parliamentary Candidate, shared her plans to facilitate development in the Nkoranza South constituency with the electorates, touching on the various concerns raised by the NCCE and said she had already conducted a survey and knew the needs of the community members.

She appealed to her followers to embark on a peaceful campaign and urged them to ensure a conflict-free environment before, during, and after the elections.

Some of the community members who got the opportunity to ask questions expressed satisfaction with how the candidate responded to their questions.

The NCCE boss disclosed, “The elections will soon be over, and we will remain the people of Nkoranza.

Nkoranza was before politics, and so let’s continue to enjoy our peaceful coexistence as one people because Nkoranza deserves better,” she said.
