Christiana Awuni Criticizes NPP Leadership, Advocates for Mahama in 2024 Elections

Kumawood actress and NDC member Christiana Awuni has taken a jab at Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as "Napo," labeling him as having a low IQ. The outspoken actress made the remarks during an NDC campaign event at Weija, where she passionately urged citizens to vote for former president John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to the gathered crowd, Awuni criticized the current leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, holding them responsible for Ghana’s economic difficulties. She argued that poor governance and mismanagement under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had plunged the country into hard times, making it imperative for Ghanaians to elect a competent leader.

Awuni believes that only John Dramani Mahama, the NDC's flagbearer, has the vision and capability to restore Ghana’s economy and improve the lives of its citizens. "Ghana is suffering because of mismanagement," she stated, emphasizing that Mahama is the right choice to bring about meaningful change.

During her address, Awuni also targeted Napo, the current Minister of Energy and a prominent figure in the NPP. She claimed to have seen a video of Napo on TikTok, which she interpreted as a covert campaign for the NDC’s flagbearer. Referring to the video, she questioned the minister’s judgment and labeled him as someone with a "low IQ." She added that “no sensible person” would make such a mistake, further underscoring her criticism of the NPP’s leadership.

Awuni’s comments reflect her deep dissatisfaction with the current government and her belief that Mahama is the only candidate capable of leading the nation out of its current challenges. Her remarks come at a time when political tensions are running high, with both major parties gearing up for the 2024 elections.

The Kumawood actress is not new to political commentary, often using her platform to voice support for the NDC and critique the policies of the NPP. Her speech at Weija has sparked reactions from both supporters and critics, with some praising her boldness and others questioning her approach.
