In preparation for the upcoming December 7 elections, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to remain neutral and uphold the highest standards of professionalism. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a peaceful, safe, and secure environment for all citizens during the electoral process.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of new officers at the Ghana Military Academy in Teshie, Accra, the President highlighted the crucial role of the Armed Forces in maintaining the nation's peace and stability, particularly during elections. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the 73 newly commissioned officers, who completed their training in the Short Service Commission and Special Duties Intake 61 programs.

The President reiterated that the right to free and fair elections is non-negotiable and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the will of the people prevails. "Our democracy will remain steadfast and unshaken," he assured the nation, promising a smooth and peaceful transition of power, regardless of political differences.

Akufo-Addo emphasized the responsibility of the Armed Forces to act impartially, ensuring that no political ambition interferes with the peace and stability that Ghana has worked hard to build. He stressed that safeguarding the nation’s peace is a sacred trust, one that the GAF must uphold in both spirit and action during the electoral period.

The President also expressed his admiration for the Ghana Military Academy’s success in training competent and capable officers. He commended the institution for setting high standards in military education, ensuring that the newly commissioned officers are well-prepared to serve the nation with dedication and honor.

As the election approaches, Akufo-Addo’s call for neutrality and professionalism within the Armed Forces is a reminder of the importance of maintaining order and respect for democratic processes. The role of the military in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections is paramount in preserving Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.
