Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the people of Walewale to vote for him in the upcoming December 7 elections, emphasizing that their support will ensure they receive their fair share of national development. Speaking at a 'Bawumia Connect' event in his hometown on November 22, Dr. Bawumia urged his fellow residents to seize the opportunity to elect someone from their own community to the highest office in the land.
Drawing on a popular local proverb, Bawumia conveyed the message that when one of their own occupies a significant position, they will naturally benefit from the opportunities that come with it. "If your mother is at the funeral, you cannot be denied Tuo Zaafi (TZ)," he said, using the metaphor to explain that with him as president, the people of Walewale will enjoy the rewards of his leadership.
The NPP flagbearer reflected on the unique opportunity that the election presents, stating that having a president from Walewale could unlock substantial benefits for the region and the nation as a whole. "Imagine the pride and joy of knowing the President of Ghana is from your hometown. This is a chance that God has given us, and it is one that we must embrace," he said.
Dr. Bawumia, who hails from Walewale, described his candidacy as a divine opportunity. He emphasized that, unlike his opponent, John Mahama, who has already served as president for one term, he has the potential to serve two terms if elected. “This is a gift from God. We must not waste this chance. With God's grace, I can lead Ghana for the next eight years and make a lasting impact,” he stated.
He also highlighted the ongoing development initiatives under the NPP government, noting the success of the "One District, One Factory" program, which has created thousands of jobs across the country. Dr. Bawumia reassured the people of Walewale that their support would not only benefit them but would also contribute to the overall progress of Ghana.
The call for unity and collective action resonated strongly with the crowd, as Bawumia emphasized that Walewale’s future, and by extension, the nation’s future, would be brighter with strong leadership from within the community. He urged the residents to not only vote for him but to also encourage others to join in securing a prosperous future for all.
