Ahead of Ghana's 2024 general elections, Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has firmly declared that the Eastern Region is fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process. Addressing a gathering at the forecourt of the Abetifi Palace following a massive walk organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Acheampong issued a stern warning against any attempts to disrupt the election.

He expressed unwavering confidence in the NPP’s victory, stating, “In 2022, I said the NPP would win the elections. In 2023, I said the NPP would win the elections. In 2024, everything indicates the NPP will win the elections. We will vote peacefully, count peacefully, and declare the NPP winner peacefully.” Acheampong further cautioned that anyone seeking to destabilize the party’s anticipated success would face severe repercussions.

The minister highlighted the extensive groundwork laid by the NPP to ensure a smooth electoral process. According to him, the Eastern Region is now under “lockdown,” signaling the party’s vigilance in safeguarding the region’s political stability. “We have campaigned very well and put measures in place. The Eastern Region is locked down, and whoever dares to misbehave here will face a showdown,” he asserted.

Acheampong’s comments were made in the context of heightened political activity across the country, with major parties ramping up their campaigns ahead of the December 2024 elections. His statements reflect the NPP's resolve to secure a decisive victory while maintaining peace throughout the process.

The rally at Abetifi drew thousands of NPP supporters, showcasing the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts. Acheampong underscored the importance of unity and discipline among party members, emphasizing that the NPP's electoral success depends on collective action and adherence to the rule of law.

The minister’s remarks have sparked discussions about the preparedness of political parties to manage tensions that may arise during the elections. While his assurance of a peaceful process is welcome, his stern warnings to potential disruptors underline the need for all stakeholders to prioritize calm and order as Ghana approaches a critical democratic milestone.

This update highlights Bryan Acheampong’s declaration regarding the Eastern Region’s readiness for the elections, as reported by Citi Newsroom. The NPP’s firm stance on ensuring a peaceful and transparent process reinforces the importance of safeguarding democratic principles during this pivotal time in Ghana’s political landscape.
