As part of his continued effort to improve education and increase student welfare, Businessman and Philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has donated a 35-seater bus to Tamale Senior High School in the Northern Region. The gesture, which occurred on Friday, November 23, 2024, is said to boost transport facilities at the school to make the movement of students and staff more comfortable.
The bus, valued at several hundreds of thousands of Ghanaian cedis, was presented to the school during a brief ceremony attended by school officials, students, and several community leaders. Ibrahim Mahama, the CEO of Engineers and Planners, emphasized the need to contribute to national development through support for educational institutions. Education is the foundation upon which the future of any nation is built," Mahama said in his address as he called on other corporate entities and individuals to emulate his example towards the growth and development of Ghana's educational sector.
The donation comes at a time when transport has been a big challenge to the school. Many times, students and staff have been incapacitated due to limited access to transport, making it difficult for them to attend educational activities and competitions outside the school grounds. The 35-seater bus will significantly ease these challenges by providing a reliable means of transport for inter-school events, sports competitions, and educational excursions.
The headmaster of Tamale SHS, Mr. Sulemana Adams, therefore expressed profound gratitude to Ibrahim Mahama for the gesture, indicating that the bus will greatly enhance the experience of the students and staff. "This is timely intervention, and we are really grateful for this kind gesture. It will go a long way in helping us provide a more effective and efficient learning environment," Mr. Adams remarked.
Community leaders hailed the donation as a giant step to improve infrastructure in education within the Northern Region. Indeed, the parents and guardians were in awe, since such a bus will serve to make an actual difference within the lives of their children in school.
Philanthropic works by Ibrahim Mahama continue to positively touch the lives of many, and his latest donation has stood tall as a commitment to ensuring the development of education in Ghana.
