Ruben Amorim’s first match as Manchester United's manager resulted in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town, where United struggled to hold onto an early advantage. The game began brightly for United, with Amad Diallo making an immediate impact from the wing-back position. Within minutes of kickoff, Diallo raced down the right flank, delivering a precise pass to Marcus Rashford, who found the back of the net. This early goal, only Rashford’s second in the league this season, ignited the away supporters who were eager to welcome Amorim’s new era. However, the home team, managed by former United assistant Kieran McKenna, quickly began to put pressure on their opponents. Ipswich's Sammie Szmodics had a notable chance when he forced a save from United’s goalkeeper André Onana, signaling that the home side would not back down easily.

As the first half progressed, the game grew more open, and both teams had opportunities to change the scoreline. Diogo Dalot’s weak effort on goal was comfortably saved by Ipswich's goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric, while André Onana showcased his quick reflexes to deny a fierce shot from Liam Delap at close range. Despite United's early dominance, Ipswich found an equalizer just before halftime. Omari Hutchinson’s curling strike from the edge of the box took a deflection off Noussair Mazraoui’s head, sending the ball into the top corner for his first Premier League goal. This equalizer shifted the momentum of the game, giving Ipswich a renewed sense of confidence as they went into the break.

The second half saw Manchester United eager to reclaim the lead and end their streak of five winless away matches. They almost succeeded in recreating their fast start when Alejandro Garnacho’s shot was blocked by Muric from a tight angle. Both teams remained aggressive, with Ipswich's defense standing strong against United's attempts to break through. Notably, Jens Cajuste made a crucial sliding tackle to halt Garnacho’s dangerous run into the box. In the latter stages, Amorim introduced several attacking changes, demonstrating his intent to claim all three points. Bruno Fernandes came close to a winner, narrowly missing the target from a free-kick. Despite promising moments and a more adventurous style under their new manager, Manchester United couldn’t find a way past Ipswich’s well-disciplined defense. Ipswich's substitute Conor Chaplin nearly snatched a late victory, but the game ended in a stalemate. Ipswich climbed to 18th in the table, remaining unbeaten in three consecutive league matches, while Manchester United sits 12th, three points behind sixth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. This result underscores the challenges Amorim faces as he seeks to rejuvenate the club.
