The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to reject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Dramani Mahama, in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Addressing a campaign rally in Saboba on Saturday, November 23, 2024, Dr. Bawumia criticized the NDC for neglecting the five northern regions during its tenure and for mismanaging resources intended for development.
He specifically targeted the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), a flagship initiative of the NDC, which he claimed failed to deliver on its promise to transform the north.
Dr. Bawumia accused the Mahama-led administration of squandering funds allocated to SADA on ineffective programmes, highlighting the infamous guinea fowl project as a prime example.
He ridiculed the project, alleging that funds were wasted, and no tangible benefits were realized for the northern regions.
He also revived the longstanding controversy surrounding claims that the guinea fowls had flown to Burkina Faso, using it as a symbol of inefficiency and corruption under the NDC.
“In this election, the choice is clear—it’s between myself and the former president. During his tenure, hundreds of millions of cedis meant for developing the north were mismanaged. He said he was rearing guinea fowls under SADA, but we haven’t seen a single SADA project in the five northern regions. Is there any SADA project in Saboba?” he questioned.
Dr. Bawumia further questioned Mahama’s bid for re-election, asking, “We asked him where the guinea fowls were, and he said they had flown to Burkina Faso. And now he says he wants to come back. Do you want him back?”
He urged the electorate to make a decisive choice for progress and accountability in the upcoming polls. Please drop your comments and follow me for more this is Faaloor Emmanuel
