Ruben Amorim admits Man United stars are 'confused' and 'afraid'

Ruben Amorim admitted that his Manchester United players were ‘confused’ and ‘afraid’ as the clung on to a draw at Ipswich.

United flew out the blocks and were ahead after 81 seconds through Marcus Rashford but they soon lost their way as they got to grips with Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

'If you see the first half, you can see that they are a little bit afraid,’ the United boss said.

‘When we don't have training and it's hard to say all the reactions to the players, we had two days so they are confused a little bit.’

Amorim added that he felt players were ‘thinking too much’ as he tried to rid them of bad habits picked up under predecessor Erik ten Hag.

Ipswich felt aggrieved they didn’t win the game and Amorim said that decision-making from his players, not his system, was to blame.

‘Decision-making is a concern,’ he added. ‘You don't need to coach them in this level. We are doing some things not in the right moment and that's what we have to address.

'The 3-4-3 is not the concern, the understanding of the game is what we have to improve.

‘It's a tough league. You learn that in the first moment. My players were thinking too much in the game you can feel it. Not just on the ball but where they are supposed to be. And that is hard. It's just two days with the team so it's really hard.

VAR stops working during Ipswich vs Man United PL game: what happens next?

Referee Anthony Taylor was unable to call upon his Video Assistant Referee for part of Sunday’s game at Portman Road.

Sunday’s Premier League game between Ipswich Town and Manchester United was notable for being Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge of the Red Devils, but also for VAR being unavailable for a short period of time in the first half.

Why did VAR stop working during Ipswich vs Manchester United?

Referee Anthony Taylor brought United captain Bruno Fernandes and his Ipswich counterpart Sam Morsy in the centre of the field to explain the technology wouldn’t be use after being told a fire alarm had gone off at Stockley Park, a business estate in west London where the Premier League’s VAR hub is based (and from where all VAR interactions take place).

What happens when VAR stops working?

When VAR isn’t available, Premier League games continue as normal, although match officials must go old school and make decisions based solely on their own judgement. Music to the ears of many fans, players and managers, if social media reactions were anything to go by…

Taylor had no major drama to contend with in the time in which he wasn’t assisted by VAR, although Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson did cancel out Marcus Rashford’s early opener with a fine strike just before half time.

Henry poses with partner on red carpet as they bring the glam to GQ MOTY Awards

THIERRY HENRY took to the red carpet this week with his rarely-seen partner.

The Arsenal legend was one of several A-list celebs in attendance at the GQ France Men of the Year Awards in Paris.

And he was dressed to the nines with his seldom-seen partner Andrea Rajacic.

The couple, who have been dating for over 15 years, looked a million bucks as they posed for photos.

Henry, 47, looked dapper in a dark grey Gucci suit, which he wore with a black turtleneck and suede Loro Piana shoes.

Rajacic, 38, complemented her partner's sauve outfit with a slinky black dress.

Rajacic is no stranger to stepping out in front of the cameras.

The Bosnian has been a model for most of her life and has built up a stunning portfolio.

Henry shared several photos of himself and Rajacic at the event with his 2.7 million Instagram followers.

His accompanying caption: "Great night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards."

Henry was honoured at the awards show, where he gave a rousing and uplifting speech.

The former France international said: "On the pitch, I had a certain confidence that hid a lot of doubts.

"In a world like football, where it is taboo to say that you are not well, I often lied to myself.

"If I had been asked before what a good leader was, I would have talked about a guy who is never in pain and who is a leader.

"Today, I would say: 'Be vulnerable and show a lot of empathy.'

"Without empathy, people don't open up.

"When I was younger, I didn 't understand that being vulnerable is a strength
