Manchester United legend Roy Keane has delivered a harsh verdict on his former club after their 1-1 draw with Ipswich.
The match marked Ruben Amorim’s debut as United manager, but it did little to lift the mood around Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford gave United an early lead at Portman Road, scoring in the second minute.
However, Ipswich equalized and could have won, leaving United stuck in 12th place in the Premier League, only seven points above the relegation zone.
Roy Keane comments on Man Utd top 4 chances
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane did not hold back: "Man United, at this moment in time whatever the problems are, are an average Premier League team. So many teams are way ahead of them. There's a long way to go for this United team. Huge job for the manager, huge job. And, again, we keep saying it but listen, hopefully they get it sorted."
Keane also expressed doubts about United’s chances of finishing in the top four, pointing to a lack of quality in the squad.
“The same players, the same problems. They lack goals and quality. You look at Ipswich, who haven’t won at home all season, and they looked the better side.”
Despite Amorim’s arrival, Keane believes United’s struggles will not be fixed easily, saying: “Do I believe this group of players can get United back into the top four? Absolutely not. The evidence isn’t there.”
United’s next test comes on Thursday in the Europa League against Bodo Glimt, Amorim’s first game at Old Trafford. With only one win in their European campaign so far, Amorim will be desperate for a turnaround.
