Mohamed Salah has revealed uncertainty about his future at Liverpool, stating that he is "probably more out than in" as his current contract nears its expiration at the end of the season. Despite his status as one of Liverpool’s most influential players since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has yet to receive a formal offer to extend his stay at Anfield.
Speaking after his decisive two-goal performance in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton, Salah admitted disappointment at the lack of clarity regarding his future. “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club,” he said. “I’ve been here for many years, and there’s no club like this. But in the end, it’s not in my hands. I love the fans, and the fans love me. Let’s wait and see.”
When asked if the absence of an offer was frustrating, Salah responded: “Of course, yeah. I’m not retiring anytime soon, so I’m focusing on the season, trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League. I’m disappointed, but we’ll see.”
Liverpool sources suggest discussions with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, are ongoing and described as positive. However, factors such as Salah’s age, his status as the club’s highest-paid player, and the need for long-term planning make a quick resolution unlikely. Salah, 32, has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ittihad reportedly offering £150 million in 2023—a bid Liverpool rejected. Salah declined to comment on potential Saudi interest, reiterating his focus on helping Liverpool succeed this season.
Despite the uncertainty, Salah’s performances remain at the highest level, contributing 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 appearances across all competitions this season. He emphasized his professionalism and desire to continue playing at the top level, saying, “I’m just doing my best for myself and the club.”
