Ghanaian gospel musician Eric Oduro, popularly known as Erico, has opened up about the heartbreaking circumstances that led to his divorce, shedding light on a difficult chapter in his life.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Okukuseku, Erico recounted discovering his ex-wife’s infidelity during his battle with kidney disease—a revelation that shattered his trust and ended their marriage.
According to Erico, the ordeal began when he fabricated a story about having only five months to live to test his wife’s loyalty. In reality, his doctors had assured him of a recovery window within six months. At first, his wife appeared supportive, but her behavior shifted dramatically over time.
One night, while pretending to be asleep, Erico overheard the sound of a camera clicking. Curious and concerned, he opened his eyes to find his wife stark naked, taking explicit photos. She was sending the images to her lover in Dubai while engaging in an intimate phone conversation.
“I thought she was taking pictures of me in my vulnerable state,” Erico revealed. “But when I turned, I realized she was naked, sending photos to another man. I overheard her saying, ‘If you’re lusting over my photos, wait until I show you proper bedmatics.’”
The most devastating blow came when Erico heard his wife assuring her lover that she would marry him after Erico’s supposed death.
Unable to bear the betrayal, Erico confronted his wife and made the difficult decision to prioritize his health over his marriage. The next morning, he left their matrimonial home and returned to Kumasi, determined to focus on his recovery and gospel ministry.
Now fully recovered, Erico is dedicating his energy to his music and faith, leaving behind the painful memories of his past. Reflecting on the experience, he remains resolute in moving forward and serving his ministry.
