Professor Aboko Akudugu Promoted to Associate Professor of Human Resource Management
Tamale Technical University (TaTU) has announced the meritorious promotion of Dr. Aboko Akudugu to Associate Professor of Human Resource Management, effective December 7, 2023. The promotion was formalized during a Special Governing Council Meeting held on October 11, 2024, at the John Evans Atta Mills Block Auditorium. This recognition is a testament to his exemplary dedication, academic excellence, and contributions to the university community.
Professor Aboko is a renowned scholar in the Faculty of Business, excelling in knowledge management, organizational behavior, training and development, talent recruitment, and organizational growth. His commitment to fostering inclusive management and ethical leadership has earned him widespread acclaim. Since joining TaTU as a Lecturer in 2009, he has risen through the ranks, achieving Senior Lecturer status in 2015 following impactful research publications addressing pressing societal challenges.
Academically, Professor Aboko holds a PhD in Innovation Communication from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, and an MBA in Human Resource Management from Halifax College, London. His educational journey began with a professional teaching qualification from Gbewaah Training College, Pusiga, in 1995.
In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Aboko has held key leadership roles at TaTU. He served as Head of the Department of Secretaryship and Management Studies (2010–2012), Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning (2018–2020), and University Examinations Officer (2020–2022). Currently, he is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business and Head of the Department of Secretaryship and Management Studies, where he is spearheading initiatives to establish PhD programs.
Professor Aboko’s leadership extends to various university boards and committees. As Chair of the Academic Programmes Proposals Development Committee, he designed undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the university. He has also contributed significantly to the Academic Board, Appointments and Promotions Board, Quality Assurance Committee, and Staff Development and Scholarships Committee.
A prolific scholar, Professor Aboko has published extensively in esteemed journals and serves as an external assessor for academic institutions, providing expert evaluations of promotion applications and program proposals. Beyond his academic and administrative roles, he is a dedicated mentor, guiding numerous students and colleagues in their academic and professional pursuits.
