Guy kills mother, sister, grandmother, and niece for money rituals
A young man identified as Anaegbuachara has confessed to killing his mother, grandmother, sister, and niece in Amaeze village, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, for money ritual purposes. The tragic incident occurred on Monday night, November 25, 2024, when the victims unknowingly consumed poison-laced food prepared by the suspect.
According to reports, the victims had gathered for a meal before going to bed, unaware of the sinister plot. Among them was Mama Chijioke Amaeze, who had been caring for her ailing mother, and her daughter, who had brought her own children to visit. The next day, the suspect was apprehended and confessed to the crime during police interrogation.
Anaegbuachara revealed that he was instructed to carry out the act by a native doctor from Kogi State who resides in the Agbani area of Nsukka. He stated that a friend, known only as Morroco, introduced him to the native doctor, who prepared the poison and directed him to sacrifice his mother in exchange for wealth. Tragically, his grandmother, sister, and two of his sister’s children also ate the poisoned food, resulting in their deaths.
Reports indicate that the only survivor of the poisoning, a nine-year-old child, was rushed to the hospital but has since shown signs of severe mental instability. Witnesses describe the child as being in a state of confusion and "indirectly running mad."
Local resident Chijinkem Ugwuanyi provided further details about the horrific events, emphasizing that the grandmother, sister, and her children were unintended victims who happened to visit on the fateful day. "He was instructed to poison and kill his mother only, but the others were there and ate the food together,” Ugwuanyi wrote.
Following his confession, Anaegbuachara asked for forgiveness, expressing remorse for his actions. However, the gruesome nature of the crime has left the community in shock and mourning.
The Enugu State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident, including efforts to locate the native doctor who allegedly orchestrated the crime. The case has reignited concerns about ritual killings in Nigeria and the influence of harmful traditional practices. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent similar tragedies.
