The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that the pursuit of power by the government is not for personal gain, but to ensure that Ghanaians live well. Speaking at a gathering of supporters in Accra on Monday, Bawumia indicated that the administration remained committed to changing the living standards of ordinary Ghanaians through innovative policies and sustainable development.

The running mate of the New Patriotic Party for the forthcoming general elections, Dr. Bawumia, highlighted that this government is poised to attain economic stability, create employment, and improve infrastructure. "We do not seek power for its own sake, but to bring improvement in the well-being and development of our people," he told cheering party faithful.

The Vice President's comments came amidst growing concerns about the country's economic challenges, exacerbated by global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Despite these, Bawumia highlighted the resilience of the government in implementing key economic reforms that have improved infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Dr. Bawumia also used the opportunity to lash at the opposition for being out of touch with the realities of ordinary Ghanaians. He underscored that while the NPP has worked its socks off to resolve the economic problems of the country, the opposition has not been able to offer any useful solutions.

The road to prosperity may be long and tortuous, but our administration has consistently shown that we are on the right path," he said. He assured Ghanaians that the NPP government would continue to ensure that policies geared toward reducing poverty, increasing access to quality education, and improving local industries were pursued relentlessly.

The speech of Bawumia, touching on the government's digital transformation agenda, resonated with many supporters who cheered him for what they described as a clear vision for Ghana's future.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, Bawumia's message of development, unity, and prosperity is expected to be a key factor in the NPP's campaign strategy.
