Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, has been making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons.
In a shocking turn of events, Napo, the Running Mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), mistakenly urged Ghanaians to support former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
This blunder occurred while Napo was introducing a parliamentary candidate for the NPP in a recent video that's been circulating on social media. This mistake has sparked a national debate, with many questioning Napo's ability to lead the country.
It's worth noting that Napo has been a key figure in the NPP, serving as the Minister of Education from 2017 to 2021 and later as the Minister of Energy from 2021 to 2024. However, this recent mistake has raised concerns about his fitness for office.
Recently, some top leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have also been seen mistakenly endorsing John Dramani Mahama, instead of their own candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
First, it was Napo, then, the Ashanti Regional Chairman Wuntumi, who also made a similar mistake in a viral video.
Many Ghanaians think that these mistakes are a sign that Mahama will win the election. They believe that even the NPP leaders are unknowingly supporting Mahama.
The saying "those who the gods wish to destroy, they are first made mad" seems fitting for the recent mistakes made by top NPP leaders. It's almost as if they're self-destructing, and many Ghanaians are eager to see an end to their 8-year rule.
The NDC, in particular, is capitalizing on this momentum, with their General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, stating that the number 8 position on the ballot paper signifies a pivotal moment for change after eight years of mismanagement and corruption under the NPP.
It's worth noting that the NPP has been working to break the 8-year cycle of political party rule in Ghana. However, with recent events, it seems their chances of achieving this goal are dwindling. Instead, the NDC is poised to take advantage of the NPP's mistakes and bring about the change that many Ghanaians are craving.
