With Ghana's December 7, 2024 election just around the corner, the special voting exercise is set to take place before the main event.
This special voting exercise is designed for specific groups of registered voters who will be unable to cast their ballots on the main election day due to their critical roles in the electoral process.
Ghana's special voting exercise is set to take place on Monday, December 2, 2024, ahead of the general election on December 7.
-*The special voting exercise is open to*:
- *Journalists*:
Media personnel who will be on duty on December 7 will be able to cast their votes early.
- *Electoral Commission Staff*:
Staff of the Electoral Commission who will be busy conducting the elections.
- *Security Personnel*:
Members of the security agencies, including the police and military, who will be deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections will also participate in the special voting exercise.
These individuals will cast their ballots at 276 designated voting centers across the country.
*-Preparations for the Special Voting Exercise-*
According to the Electoral Commission (EC), all arrangements are in place for a smooth exercise on December 2.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed that 95% of ballot papers had been distributed, with biometric verification machines already on their way to district offices for further deployment on election day.
The special voting exercise is a critical component of Ghana's electoral process, ensuring that those who will be busy on election day can still exercise their right to vote.
With preparations underway, the EC is confident that the exercise will be successful.
-*NOTE-:
Anyone who participated in the special voting exercise on December 2, won't be able to cast another vote on the main election day, on December 7.
This is because the special voting exercise is designed only for the above mentioned groups (journalists and security personnel etc), who will be very busy on election day.
