Asante Kotoko Returns to Baba Yara Stadium After Renovation
Kumasi Asante Kotoko has officially confirmed its return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the remainder of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. The club had been temporarily using the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) deemed the Baba Yara venue unsuitable for international matches during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Following this, the National Sports Authority (NSA) closed the stadium to conduct essential renovations, ensuring it meets the required standards.
The renovation work has now been completed, paving the way for Kotoko to resume playing at their iconic home ground. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on November 28, 2024, Asante Kotoko expressed their excitement about the return, describing it as a significant moment for the team and its supporters. "We are pleased to announce our return to the Baba Yara Stadium for our remaining home matches of the season," the statement read. This development marks the revival of a historic venue known for hosting memorable matches and fostering Kotoko’s football legacy.
Fans are particularly thrilled as the first Super Clash of the season between Asante Kotoko and their rivals, Hearts of Oak, will now take place at the refurbished Baba Yara Sports Stadium during Matchday 13. The clash is expected to bring back electrifying energy to the venue once the league resumes after the December 7 elections. Kotoko’s return to their beloved home ground signals a renewed spirit and motivation as they aim for success in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
