Maya Blu Reacts to Departure from Lynx Entertainment
Budding musician Maya Blu has expressed her surprise at the unexpected decision by her record label, Lynx Entertainment, to part ways with her. Despite the unforeseen nature of her exit, the Good Girl No Dey Pay singer holds no ill will toward the label.
In an exclusive interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, November 25, 2024, Maya Blu said, “It’s their label, and they can choose to take whatever decision that suits them.” She emphasized that her departure came as a shock, given her positive relationship with management and the lack of any prior indication of such a move.
“My exit from Lynx came as a big shock because there was no disagreement or any hint whatsoever. But I am cool. I don't have anything against their decision to let me go. We had an agreement, and so, if we have to part ways, I take that in good faith,” she stated.
Recent reports have suggested that Lynx Entertainment has dropped several signees, including Maya Blu, Saint Lennon, and Kasar Music, who were part of its new wave of talent known as “BDSM.” Last year, the group collaborated on a joint EP, Coming Soon. However, these claims remain unconfirmed by the label.
Maya Blu, who has been steadily making a name for herself in Ghana’s music industry, revealed that she believed she was making meaningful strides under Lynx's guidance. Her exit, therefore, caught her completely off guard.
Since her departure, Maya Blu has been taking time to recalibrate her career. She hinted at ongoing projects and expressed her determination to stay focused on her artistic journey while waiting for the right opportunity.
“Right now, I have new projects I’m working on, and I’ll get them going until a good offer comes my way. I'm in no rush, so I’m just chilling here and taking things slow. I’m recording a couple of songs, and hopefully, I will be able to make something good very soon,” she disclosed.
Lynx Entertainment, founded by Richie Mensah over 15 years ago, is one of Ghana’s leading record labels. It has nurtured some of the country’s most prominent music acts, including Asem, Eazzy, MzVee, KiDi, and Kuami Eugene. Maya Blu's exit marks the end of a chapter in her burgeoning career, but she remains optimistic about the future.
